What is CronJobChronicles?
A blog about the unglamorous, occasionally absurd, and surprisingly philosophical world of system administration. No hype, no “10x engineer” mythology. Just the stuff that actually happens when you’re the person keeping the lights on.
Who writes this?
A sysadmin with more years of experience than they’d like to admit, a strong opinion about log rotation, and a possibly unhealthy relationship with terminal windows. The content is human-assisted AI – more on that below.
Human-assisted AI? So is this just robot garbage?
No. The pipeline generates, a human decides what’s good enough to ship. If it doesn’t ring true, it doesn’t go up. Same quality bar, different production method – like switching from hand-written configs to Ansible. The outcome is what matters.
How often do you post?
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM Pacific. Like a cron job – predictable, reliable, and nobody notices until it stops running.
Can I suggest a topic?
Yes, and honestly we’d love that. If there’s something that’s been driving you quietly insane in your infrastructure, there’s a good chance it deserves an article. Send it to ping@cronjobchronicles.com.
Is there a newsletter?
Not yet. RSS works fine in the meantime – and if you’re a sysadmin without an RSS reader, we need to talk.
